CMEC signs operation and maintenance contract for Salah Al-Din Power Station Project

On May 12, Wang Bo, Chairman of China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), met with General Manager Waleed and his delegation from the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity at CMEC's headquarters in Beijing. The two sides held in-depth discussions on strengthening cooperation in the operation and maintenance of the Salah Al-Din Power Station, along with future strategic coordination.?

Following the meeting, representatives from both parties signed the "Third Phase Operation and Maintenance Contract for the 2×630MW Oil and Gas Power Station Project in Salah Al-Din, Iraq".

Chairman Wang extended a warm welcome to General Manager Waleed and his delegation, praising the long-standing relationship of mutual trust and win-win cooperation between the two sides. He highlighted the Salah Al-Din Power Station as the largest single-unit capacity power generation facility in Iraq, which has maintained excellent performance and stable output since its commissioning in 2023.?

The plant not only completed its first-year power generation target 13 days ahead of schedule but also successfully met its second-year goal by April 13, 2025. These achievements reflect the professionalism and dedication of the CMEC team, as well as the continued trust and support from the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity.?

Wang expressed his hope for deeper collaboration in areas such as capacity expansion, technological upgrades, and broader maintenance services to further support Iraq's economic recovery and industrial development.

General Manager Waleed commended CMEC's expertise and reliability in delivering fully on its contractual promises. He noted that the stable operation of the Salah Al-Din Power Station has significantly alleviated power shortages in northern Iraq, contributing to improvements in local livelihoods and economic growth.?

On behalf of his ministry, Waleed expressed deep appreciation for the CMEC project team's commitment over the years and affirmed full recognition of the project's accomplishments. He also pledged that the Iraqi side would actively work to address CMEC's current concerns and ensure continued momentum for future cooperation.
